Abstract
An optical transistor concept based on channel plasmon polariton and triple point effects is presented. It is based on a plasmonic waveguide channel consisting of a rectangular silver strip with a tiny groove, mounted on a dielectric substrate. Over a short section, a nonlinear dielectric block is mounted along the waveguide around the triple point area, where the metal strip laterally ends on the substrate. This block allows steering of the waveguide mode by an external light beam. 2D numerical eigenvalue analyses of the waveguide modes with and without dielectric blocks, followed by a full 3Dsimulations of the waveguide with a short section with one or two dielectric blocks along the waveguide, show a proof of concept.
